It’s always fun to hear how a band comes together — and ours started with a surprise.
After years of playing in different bands, it seemed like something always got in the way: members moved away, schedules filled up, or the commitment just wasn’t there. Then one Sunday at church, out of nowhere, our friends David and Donna Gumfory walked up and said, “You’re in!”
I must’ve looked confused, because they quickly explained: “Your band is in for the fundraising event at Fish City Grill.”
There was just one small problem — there was no band.
So the phone calls started. One by one, musicians I’d played with before said yes. That same week we gathered in my living room, plugged in, and everything clicked. We didn’t just rehearse — we took off. Hours flew by as the music locked in and the chemistry was undeniable.
We kept rehearsing, and just a month later, we found ourselves headlining the event on the deck at Fish City Grill, playing to a packed house. The energy was electric. That night was pure magic.
After the last note faded, I asked the question: “Do you want to keep this going?”
The answer was an overwhelming YES — and just like that, Cover Bandits Band was born.
